| We
attend this laid back open meet every year, and as it is mainly
aimed at swimmers who are chasing National times, there is always someone
who comes back with a National Qualifying Time.
This year was no exception,
in fact it was the best yet.
Laura Swain went to the
London venue to try once again to get that 100m Breaststroke time and
Laura achieved her aim finishing 1 second inside her National time.
Patrick Ikhena achieved two National times in the 100m Breaststroke and
100m Freestyle and if he is on form at the Midlands there is surely more
to come.
Swimmer of the Meet is going to Ben Pogson who gained a
National qualifying time in the 1500m Freestyle - his first freestyle
event - and I feel that if anybody is getting a National time at 1500m Freestyle
then I know I've got the swimmers right.
Ben had already achieved his 200m Backstroke National Time putting in a
stunning swim beating a high class field by 15 metres in a time of 2.14.74
- which is faster than most of our lads can swim 200m Freestyle!
This has to be on the fixture list for next year. |
