Swimmer of Meet

Speedo - 10th December, 2005

With illness still in the club I'd like to thank the swimmers who made the effort to perform when not 100% and those who were willing to go to family parties after the competition.

Its good to see you putting the club first and should be an example to all.

Once again we were missing two older swimmers.  We do not have the depth in these age groups and we struggled in the open events despite having a swimmer of Lewis's standard moving into this age group we could still only manage fourth places.

We struggled all night to find those first place positions and even the tougher swimmers who have done so well against the bigger clubs could not find their form.

It was nice to see Rebecca Price finding some determination and coming back to form but the swimmer of the meet has to come from our 13year old boys. A super swim from Sam Wright saw him going under 1.20 for his 100m Breaststroke for the first time and finishing in 2nd place.

Patrick Ikhena performed a well timed swim to win the 100 fly and over taking the opposition in the last 7 metres to win the race, achieving another club record time.

Ben Pogson is my Swimmer of the meet this week, winning the 100m backstroke in a best time and then winning and breaking the Club Record in the 100m freestyle and going under the 60seconds.

Well done Ben!
