Swimmer of Meet

Anglian League Finals 23rd September, 2006

A Team

The a team had a comfortable lead going into the final with a 4 point lead.
With such a close gala the lead swapped hands in the early stages but City of Norwich took control and it was nick and tuck with the other teams for second place, with final points finishing:

City of Norwich 103
Boston and Kings Lynn 94
St Ives 84
Louth 81

Finishing second place meant that WE WON THE LEAGUE after 2 years being runners up!

It was the County squad swimmers who came out on top over the Midland squad.

Swimmers that stood out from the Midland squad where Jessica Murfin - PB in 100m IM, sister Ameila - PB in the 13/u 100m Freestyle, Patrick Ikhena in the 100m IM and 100m Back, Laura Swain won the 15/u 200m IM and the best swim from the Midland Squad was Joseph Howe who won in a PB in the 13/U 100m Breaststroke.

I was impressed by the County squad swimmers.  Paige Royce with her first County time in the 13/u 100m Backstroke and another PB in the 13/u 100m Breastroke.
Ben Warren after finishing last season early due to illness bounced back with a PB in the 13/u 100m Free.  Jemma Tointon moved up to the A team for the first time and swam a PB in theOpen 50m Breast.
Nathan Sargeant powered his way to victory gaining a PB in the Open 50m Back.

The Swimmer of the Meet was Joe Morris  who has just started weight training and reduced his PB by three seconds in winning the 15/u 100m Breaststroke.

B Team

In the consolation final Boston B had to win the gala to take the shield.
At half way they were in 3rd place but only points behind Norwich Swans and 4 points behind Wisbech.

In the second half Wisbech drew ahead and Boston never overtook Swans  finishing in third place only 2 points behind them with Wisbech winning and beating us by 19 points.

Wins were hard to achieve but it was nice to see two swimmers coming back to form.
Eleanor Reed won the 50m fly and a second place in the 100m fly and Kayleigh North won the13/u 200m IM and was third in 13/u 100m fly.

Swimmer of the Meet was the boys captain Sam Wright winning the Open 100m IM in a PB and was third in the Open 50m fly - also a PB.
