Swimmer of Meet

Anglian League 1st Round
9th February, 2008

A Team Gala at Boston

Well done to everyone who took part.  Some excellent swims on the night helping the team to gain first place.  We gained many first place finishes with positive performances throughout the night, with some exciting finishes on several occasions.

The Swimmer of the Meet would have to go to Ose Ikhena.  Ose had some fantastic swims on the night and worked extremely hard especially on the opening event which got the night off on a high by finishing in first position.  Congratulations to Ose!

Well done to you all!

B Team

The first round saw us away at March, disappointingly we only had 4 wins all night.  Toward the end of the evening it was very close between Wisbech and ourselves and although 17 best times were achieved, we took 4th place while Wisbech came 3rd.

Swimmers gaining pb's were as follows:

Hollie Featherstone in the 100m open Individual Medley and the open 50m Backstroke.
Holly Spinks took 5 seconds off her best time in the 15/u 100m Butterfly.
Brother and sister Matthew and Megan Coleman were on form with Matthew taking a win and knocking 5 seconds off his personal best in the 13/u 100m Breaststroke while Megan took a massive 9 seconds off  her pb in the 13/u 200m Individual Medley.

Other pb’s were achieved by Bethany Pogson in the 13/u Freestyle, Brendan Clark in the open 50m Butterfly, Melissa McDonnell-Woods in the open 50m Freestyle and Sofia Parla in the 13/u 100m Backstroke.

Emma Penniston also had 2 pb’s, the first in the 15/u Backstroke and then Emma knocked 4 seconds off her previous pb in the 15/u 100m Breastroke.

Well done to Ben Warren who broke the cut off time in the 13/u 100m Freestyle, coming second in his event.

There was no question with my decision for swimmer of the meet.  This goes to a swimmer who had 3 individual events, gaining 3 wins and 3 personal best times.  A swimmer who was focused and his determination shone through all evening and I was proud to have him in my team.

Swimmer of the meet goes to Sam Reed, well done Sam.
