Swimmer of Meet |

It is not easy to pick a swimmer of meet with only 4 swimmers not achieving personal best times and so many swimmers breaking the cut off time. The selectors picked the strongest relay team possible, as there where no cut off times for the relays and we would need the points. We won 7 out of the10 relays so well done to those swimmers. The following swimmers were just too good and broke the cut off times, which unfortunately meant that they didn't gain any points for the team. Hollie Royce in the 50m Freestyle with a 4 second PB and Thomas Sargeant also gaining a 4 second PB in the 50m Butterfly; if it wasn't for the cut off times, these swims would normally be getting Swimmer of the Meet. Emma Penniston also beat the cut off time in the 50m Butterfly, with Toni Keal and Connor Spinks breaking it in the 25m Breaststroke. Chloe Mallet and Liam Brotherton broke the 25m Butterfly time; Ben Woods and Nikita Singer did the same in the 25m Backstroke. Thomas Tamberlin broke the 50m Backstroke time, with Katy McDonnell Woods and Scott Richmond breaking the 50m Breaststroke time. Emily Murfin broke the 25m Breaststroke and Katy Tointon the 50m Breaststroke. So well done to all those swimmers. PB's are more important than winning in this gala. Even though you broke the cut off time you may not have won your race although many did. It works both ways though and some swimmers may have won their event even though they didn't come first, as the faster swimmers may have broken the cut off time. The following swimmers won their events: Tom Cook and Luke Macleod in their first gala made a winning start - Tom in the 25m Backstroke and Luke in the 25m Freestyle. Philippa Housam and Thomas Tamberlin both won their 25m Backstroke races. Harry Dean Allen racing Breaststroke for change, won the 25m race and Georgia Hodgkiss won the 25m Butterfly. My Swimmer of the Meet is Bethany Pogson, who won the12/u 50m Butterfly by 2 seconds and with nobody breaking the cut off time Bethany won this event in new personal best time. Well done to everybody and your starts looked very good! Ian |
