Fenland League 4th Round
9th September, 2006

Boston A had to battle hard to win this gala after finding out the team were 15 points behind Wisbech after 13 events, but on the bus when I checked the results they were wrong - only 9 points behind - but still in third place. Although only one week back into training, I knew we could win this gala and not throw away the good results we have had all year.  We now know we can go into the final and win the League for the first time.
I hope you are part of this.

Who to pick as swimmer of the meet, with so many swimmers using the will to win and hurting just to get those points we needed? A massive 13 PB's swam, a hell of an achievement!

Ose Ikhena and Kimberley Van-Haren both produced PB's in the 13/u 50m free and breaking the cut off time, two very good swims so early on but both these swimmers have that killing instinct to win.

Abigail Teague seemed to come of age wanting to win and did so in the 10/u 50m breaststroke breaking the cut off time.   Jack Ross maybe small as he swam up an age group in the 10 years but he knows how to move those arms winning the 10/u 50m backstroke in a PB.

Amelia Murfin won the 12/u 50m back in a PB.  Jordan Butler, who I think can be one of our better swimmers in the future, won the 10/u 50m free in a PB and also won the breastroke only be DQ for two fly kicks at start.

Oliver street another swimmer who loves to win, did so in the 11/u 50m back in a PB.  Megan Sargeant who has a lovely butterfly stroke, produced a PB in the 11/u 50m fly and won the 10/u 25m fly.  Megan you nearly got my swimmer of meet!

Brendan Clark, another swimmer who nearly got my vote, did a good job as Captain with his support to the other swimmers and a PB in the 13/u 50m fly finishing in first place.  Swimmer of the Meet goes to double winner Paige Royce who won the 12/u and 13/u 100m IM both times beating her previous best time.

This was a good team performance and its moments like this that make me proud to be Coach of this Club.

B Team
All year we have struggled we the numbers of boys in the 10 and 9 year age group in the squads.  With Luke Jones and Charlie Lay moving to Future squad the selectors decided to see what they could do in a race and both swimmers did well and will be selected again.  Natasha Berg, another swimmer with not many races behind her, is knocking in some fast times and now challenging for a place in the A team .

With Peterborough in the gala I knew that wins were going to be hard to come by even if we were fully fit,  so well done to Kieran Edmonds and Robert Price making it a hard decision who gets the call.  Kieran won the 11/u 50m fly in a PB and did well in the 13/u 50m fly and another PB in the 11/u 50m Breaststroke, but my Swimmer of the Meet goes to Robert Price winning the 13/u 100m IM in a PB and another PB in the 13/u 100m backstroke finishing in 3rd place.
