Swimmer of Meet |
| Once
again Leeds produced some good swims in the 50m metre pool and one of the
best B grade meets in the country (as is the football team.) Nice to see swimmers going up getting their medals. Jack Ross beaming from ear to ear as he finished second in the 50m backstroke - it'll not be the last time we see him on the rostrum . I was tempted to give Nathan Sargeant the title swimmer of the meet as he won the 50m back, but Mexico cost him the gold in the 100m back as he faded in the last 5 metres. I felt there were so many good swims and I was looking for a swimmer who had a good weekend in most of their swims. Sadie Haines finished 2nd in the 100m freestyle and had a good 200m backstroke. Susannah Yeilding went too fast for a medal and got a speeding ticket in the 50m Backstroke (that is something I try to avoid.) Swimmers who I feel had a very good weekend producing personal best times are Holly Spinks and Joseph Howe who both swam 4 best times. That leaves me with three swimmers. Molly Wright and Heather Guy had a fantastic weekend, producing 7 best times and are my runners up. My Swimmer of the Meet is Elvijs Roberts. Although only swimming 6 personal best times, it was his fighting spirit to try and win that gold that impressed me, as well as managing two silvers in the 50m and 200m Freestyle. Ian |
