Swimmer of Meet

Leeds Open Meet
December 2007

Only seven swimmers managed to qualify for this Level 1 and 2 meet where
there were many International swimmers competing.

Although I was hoping for a big swim from Ben in his backstroke events, his preparations were dashed when he did not swim on the Friday evening.
His 200m Backstroke was a big disappointment with his best long course time back in the Midlands in 2006.  Ben managed to beat his short course time on the 50m Butterfly and gained a long course PB in the 50m,100m and 200m Freestyle and the 200m IM and 50m Backstroke.

Zak Lomas managed a long course PB in everything apart from the 100m Backstroke
.
Patrick Ikhena, who struggled all season to find his old form, beat his short course PB in the 50m Butterfly and managed to swim a long course PB in the 100m Butterfly,  50m Breaststroke and Freestyle and the 200m IM.

Laura Swain, who's Breaststroke is coming back to form, beat her short course PB in the 50m Breaststoke and long course PB in the 100m Breaststroke and 200m IM and Freestyle.

Sam Wright had a good meet beating both his 50m and 100m short course times in Freestyle and gaining a long course PB in the 50m and 100m Breaststoke.

Two swimmers therefore were vying for Swimmer of the Meet.  Kimberley Van-Haren, although getting off to a slow start, had some great swims going under 1 minute 10 in the 100m Freestyle converting to 1.08.7 short course. Kimberley beat her short course PB's in both her 200m Freestyle and 200m IM swims and her 200m Butterfly, 200m Breaststroke and 100m Backstroke were all long course PB's.

Swimmer of the Meet, however goes to Ose Ikhena.  Every swim was a long course PB and he beat his short course PB in the 50m Breaststroke, Freestyle and Backstroke and the 100m Freestyle and 200m IM.
