Swimmer of Meet

Midland Age Groups
16th/17th June, 2007

I'm a bit disappointed that we did not swim better than we did at the Midland Age Groups.
I keep telling swimmers not to have holidays in the middle of the build up for Championships.

We had a good Counties because swimmers worked from January to March without a break.
April to June was the training programme to ensure that we would swim well at the Age Groups.  So many swimmers had a break at half term which affected their performance.
I felt that Patrick peaked at Leicester Open as he was away on holiday and  unfortunately he could not find his way back to the same standard of training that he was achieving before his holiday.

Reuben Reed had the swim of the meet smashing his short course best time by 6 seconds in the 400m Freestyle.

Sam Wright was another swimmer achieving best swims in the 100m Freestyle.

Swimmer of the Meet is Kimberley Van Haren.  Kimberley achieved four best time swims and with the Saturday being cancelled Kimberley had a busy day on the Sunday.
Kimberley swam a best time to make the 200m Breaststroke final and another best time in the 100m Butterfly.  With only one race in between, Kimberley quickly came back to me to change tactics before she had to swim the 200m Breaststroke final, swimming even faster proving that there is no problem with our swimmers' stamina.  Kimberley's other best times came in the 100m Backstroke and Freestyle events.

Kimberley finished 4th place in the 200m Breaststroke and 100m Butterfly, 5th place in the 100m Breaststroke and 6th place in the 200m Butterfly.

Patrick Ikhena finished 4th place in the 100m Breaststroke.
Zak Lomas achieved 5th place in the 100m Backstroke and 6th place in the 800m Freestyle.
Reuben Reed was 6th place in the 200m Butterfly and 8th place in the 100m Butterfly.
Sam Wright finished 6th place in the 100m and 200m Breaststroke events.

Well Done,

Ian
