The first round of the Speedo League produced a good result from
a tough draw with us finishing in fourth place ahead of Louth and Market Harborough.
We should meet one of those teams again in the next round.
There were some very good swims, with the following fly swimmers producing
personal best times: Elvijs Roberts in the 13/u 100m Butterfly, Rhys Cox
in the Open Butterfly and Hannah McCleod in the11/u 50m Butterfly.
Reuben Reed, Abigail Teague and Patrick Ikhena
all produced PB's in the first leg of the relay and another for Rebecca Craven
in the 11/u 50m Breaststroke.
Victories were hard to come by but Patrick Ikhena won the15yrs 100m
Butterfly and double winners were Oliver Street in the11/u 50m
Butterfly and Backstroke, and Ben Pogson in the 15/u 100m Freestyle and
Backstroke.
So the swimmer of the meet has to be between Patrick, Ben and Oliver.
Not an easy decision with Patrick swimming a PB in the relay and Ben
achieving an easy win, but I'm going give the accolade of Swimmer of
the Meet to Oliver Street. It was the manner in which he
had to battle to get his win in the 50m Butterfly; he never lead but his finish was spot on to win and
also in the backstroke it was a good turn and finish that enabled him to win.
Well done everybody and make sure you are available for next round on the10th November.
